Get Treatment for Drug and Alcohol Addiction from the National Institute on Drug Abuse
January 8, 2025Interview with a Reader: Brandon’s Recovery Journey
January 9, 2025(Find Sobriety): Thank you for joining us today, Olivia! We’re honored to hear your story. To start, can you tell us a bit about your journey and what led you to seek help?
Olivia: Of course. My journey with addiction was long and painful. For years, I was in denial about how bad things had gotten. I thought I could handle it on my own, but after losing my job and nearly losing my family, I realized I needed help. That’s when I found “Find Sobriety.”
(Find Sobriety): It takes a lot of courage to take that first step. How did you come across our website?
Olivia: A friend actually recommended it to me. She saw how much I was struggling and suggested I check it out. I was hesitant at first—I didn’t know what to expect—but as soon as I visited the site, I realized it was exactly what I needed. It was easy to navigate and had so many resources right there.
(Find Sobriety): That’s wonderful to hear. What was your experience like using the website?
Olivia: It was honestly life-changing. I started by taking the quick assessment on the homepage to match me with treatment options. Within minutes, I had a list of treatment centers that fit my needs, including ones that accepted my insurance. The team at “Find Sobriety” even followed up with me directly to help me make the final choice.
(Find Sobriety): That’s great! What factors were most important to you in choosing a treatment center?
Olivia: For me, it was affordability and location. I didn’t have a lot of savings, and I needed somewhere close enough so my family could visit. I was also looking for a program that focused on a combination of therapy and medical support because I knew I’d need both. “Find Sobriety” helped me filter through so many options and find a place that checked all the boxes.
(Find Sobriety): Once you entered treatment, what was the biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
Olivia: The hardest part was accepting that I couldn’t do it all on my own. I had to learn to ask for help and trust the process. Therapy sessions were tough at first, but they became the foundation of my recovery. I also leaned on the support groups they introduced me to. Knowing I wasn’t alone made all the difference.
(Find Sobriety): That’s a powerful realization. How has life changed for you since getting sober?
Olivia: It’s like night and day. I’ve rebuilt relationships with my family, started a new job, and, most importantly, learned how to take care of myself. I’m 14 months sober now, and I never thought I’d be able to say that. None of it would have been possible without finding the right treatment through “Find Sobriety.”
(Find Sobriety): Congratulations on your 14 months! What advice would you give to someone who might be hesitant to reach out for help?
Olivia: My advice is simple: Take that first step. It feels overwhelming, but the hardest part is deciding to change. “Find Sobriety” makes it so easy to start. They take the guesswork out of finding help, and you don’t have to face it alone.
(Find Sobriety): Thank you for sharing your story. It’s incredibly inspiring and a testament to the importance of seeking help. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Olivia: Just a huge thank you to “Find Sobriety” for everything they do. They gave me the tools to change my life, and I hope my story encourages someone else to take the leap.
(Find Sobriety): Thank you, Olivia. Your story is a beacon of hope, and we’re so proud to have been a part of your journey.
